Heaven’s Choir is singing today as our loving mother and grandmother, Mary Captolia Williams, age 80, has entered Heaven’s Gates. She went peacefully in her home in the arms of her family Saturday, September 13, 2014, at 1:34 a.m.
Her parents, Gus and Lillie Alice (Serrett) James were blessed by God with a daughter May 15, 1934 in Dante, VA.
On December 7, 1949 she gave her heart to Gilbert Williams for 51 years before God took him home in 2001.
Mary and Gilbert were blessed with 6 children: Carolyn Sue (Pastor Edgar) Layne Sr., Diana (Melvin) Oldaker Jr., Lois (Larry) LeMaster, Joyce (Rev. Steve) Thacker all of Marion, OH., Doris (Rev. Steve) Lewis of Waldo, OH., and Gilbert Steve (Heather) Williams Jr. of Marion, Oh., 21 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, 1 brother; Stanley James of Tampa, FL., and 1 sister; Faye Fleeharty of Shreve, OH.
Mary worked at the Marion Country Club as a food preparation specialist for many years where she touched many hearts with her love and also as a homemaker, where she gave her love to her family.
Rev. Gilbert and Mary Williams were the founders and pastor of Tyler Street Mission Church where they saw many souls saved. Together they loved gardening & canning to help feed their family and others in need.
During holidays they fed the elderly in the neighborhood. She loved traveling with her family, working in her flower garden, having cookouts, camping, and most of all serving God. She loved watching “Price is Right” instead of “Come on Down”, Jesus said “Come on Up Mary” and she won the best gift “A Home in Heaven” where she will live eternity.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Rev. Gilbert Williams Sr., granddaughter, Michelle Williams, 1 brother; Jimmy James, and 1 sister; Dorothy Henegar.
Friends can come and share their love with the family at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Friday, September 19, 2014, from 5-8 p.m. Rev. Edgar Layne and Rev. Buford Williams will conduct the funeral service on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Tyler Street Mission Church, 592 Tyler St., Marion, OH. with burial to follow in the Grand Prairie Cemetery, 4964 Brush Ridge Dr., Marion, OH.
