Charles C. Gruber Sr. age 89 of Marion, Ohio passed away Friday, October 10, 2014 at Marion General Hospital.
He was born October 28, 1924 in Marion, Ohio to the late John C. and Rosa Belle (Gholson) Gruber.
On October 25, 1947 he married Phyllis A. (Benson) Gruber, she preceded him in death on November 28, 1998.
Charles was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during WWII, was a member of Central Christian Church and retired from the Erie Lackawanna/Conrail Railroad after 40 plus years.
He is survived by his children, Charles (Becki) Gruber Jr. of Marion, Brad (Koneta) Gruber of Marion, Joel (Wendi) Gruber of Marion, Lori Gruber of Marion, 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation for Charles will be Monday, October 13, 2014 from 4-7 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 1 PM with visitation from 12-1 PM, with Pastor Merlin Winters officiating. Burial will follow at Marion Cemetery with the Marion County Veterans Council conducting Military Honors.
