John E. “Jack” Schnitzler age 80 of Marion, Ohio, passed away on Saturday October 18, 2014 at Marion General Hospital.
He was born January 31, 1934 in Marion to the late Joseph and Mabel (Irby) Schnitzler.
On April 16, 1955 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio he married Norma A. Call and she survives.
John was retired from U.S. Security working through Whirpool Corporation after thirty years of service. He also spent a number of years working for Plant City Steel and Fairfield Engineering.
John was active in the community throughout his life. He was involved with the Boy Scouts, was Manager for ten years of the Eagles Bingo, and was Farm Commissioner for Baseball for Boys. John loved camping, fishing, woodworking, and was a big Buckeyes Fan and Nascar Fan.
Besides his wife of almost fifty years of marriage, John also leaves behind a daughter, Lori (Steve) Freeman of Marion, Ohio, a son, Michael (Dianne) Schnitzler of Marion, Ohio, a daughter-in-law, Terri Schnitzler of LaRue, Ohio, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren, and two sisters; Virgie Layne of Marion, Ohio and Darlene Linn of California.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son Gregory and a sister Donna Mae Rosebrough.
Funeral Services will be on Wednesday October 22, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Rev. Dwight Hord. Burial will follow in the Chapel Heights Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday October 21, 2014 from 5 to 8 P.M.
