Marian M. Sims, 93, of Marion

Marian M. SimsMarian M. Sims, age 93, of Marion and formerly of Mount Gilead, died peacefully Wednesday evening, October 22, 2014, at Marion General Hospital following a brief illness.

On February 5, 1921, Marian was born in Morral, Ohio, one of eight children of the late Albert and Ellen (Bogh) Bosley. She graduated from Morral High School in the class of 1937.

Shortly following graduation, Marian married the love of her life, Millard D. “Slim” Sims, on July 6, 1940, in Greenup, Kentucky. Together they shared 53 wonderful years of marriage. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1994.

In addition to being a loving homemaker, Marian worked at Whiston’s Pharmacy in Mount Gilead for over 20 years, and several other places where she and Millie lived for his work with Ohio Edison.

A woman of faith, Marian was an active member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, now the Crosswood United Methodist Church.

Sharing a love for traveling, Marian and Millie traveled to nearly every state in the United States in their RV or camper, even making it to Alaska before the roads were paved. She enjoyed collecting a spoon from every state on their journeys. They also were members of a camping club and a card club.

Very pleasant in every way, Marian was one of the sweetest people you could have ever known.

She will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews.

Including her husband and parents, Marian was preceded in death by her daughter, Judy Sims Jones; four brothers: George, Harold, Woodrow and Ray Bosley; and three sisters: Ida Swavel, Ethel Runkle, and Ellen Hickman.

Her family will greet friends from 10 – 11 a.m. on Monday, October 27th, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion. Services honoring her life will follow at 11 a.m., with Rev. Joe Ziraldo of the Crosswood United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Grand Prairie Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Crosswood United Methodist Church, 1551 Richland Rd., Marion, OH 43302.
