Ondie I. Messenger age 89 of Marion, Ohio, passed away on Saturday November 1, 2014 at the Marion Manor Nursing Home.
She was born May 18, 1925 in Marion to the late Eldridge and Isabelle (Miller) French.
On June 30, 1946 she married Carl E. Messenger and he survives her.
Ondie was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church.
In her earlier years she had several jobs she was employed at. She worked for the former Marion Glass Factory, the former Marion Power Shovel Company, McDonald’s, and also with a company called Manna, which distributed various sample items throughout grocery stores in the area.
Over the years, Ondie and Carl also loved to travel in their motor home.
Besides Carl, she is survived by a daughter and two sons; Anne (Mel) Hanson of Marion, Ohio, Phil (Bonnie) Messenger of Temple Terrace, Fla., and Tim Messenger of Orlando, Fla. Eight grandchildren survive; Jeremy, Justin, Jonathan, Jeff, Jacquie, Julie, Mindy, Carissa, and thirteen great-grandchildren survive, as well as a brother, Sherman “Bud” (Gladys) French of Waldo, Fla., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Ondie was preceded in death by six sisters and one brother; Reneva Chesser, Bertha Knaul, Stella Russell, Flora Rice, Cora Mossman, Dorothy Ferguson, and Sheridan French.
There will be a Graveside Service with burial to follow on Tuesday November 4, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grand Prairie Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Ondie’s nephew, Floyd Chesser. There will be no calling hours.
