Jean M. Richardson, age 59, of Marion, died peacefully Tuesday morning, November 11, 2014, at her home with her loving husband and family by her side, following an extended illness.
On August 5, 1955, Jean was born in Passaic, New Jersey, the youngest of four daughters of the late Benedict “Vic” and Bernadette “Dette” (Schultz) Jogeese. She graduated from Hackensack High School in Hackensack, New Jersey, in the class of 1973.
Shortly after graduation, Jean and her family followed her older sister, Carole, moving to Marion, Ohio, in 1974. For 18 years, she worked as the receptionist and shipping clerk at Glen Gery Brick Corporation in Caledonia.
Better late than never, Jean was introduced by mutual friends to her husband to be, Donald “Duck” Richardson. They were married in 2004, in Savannah, GA. and have felt lucky to have each other ever since they met.
Several years ago, Jean thought she was only getting two goats to live on their land and help eat their weeds, but she and Don fell in love with them. Before they knew it, they were an extended part of their family. She also loved horses and going horseback riding, and loved the companionship of their two dogs, Heidi and Mitsey.
For years, Jean has enjoyed making beaded bracelets and necklaces to give to her family and friends, and to sell at their yard sales. She also enjoyed reading, with some of her favorite things to read being Debbie Macomber, Sharryl Woods, Luanne Rice, and many others. Jean also loved flower gardening especially Orchids. Jean was a member of The Artisan’s Guild where she met a lot of wonderful and knowledgeable people.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, Don Richardson of Marion; two children: Michael (Candice) Bigler of LaRue, and Sean (Erica) Bigler of Cardington; four grandchildren: Darrin and Kadence Bigler, Samuel Reed and Jade Bigler; two sisters: Carole Cottom of Marion, and Karen Simmers of Casa Grande, Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Including her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her sister, Sr. Gail Jogeese.
Per Jean’s request, services will be observed privately by her family. She will be buried in Grand Prairie Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, and the Marion Area Humane Society, and they may be sent to the care of the funeral home.
