Bernard “Bernie” Allen Vondenberg

Bernie was born and raised in Tiffin, Ohio to Rita Greer (died July 15, 2014) and Frederick C. Vondenberg (died April 8, 1957).  He was one of 8 children. A brother “Fritz” Vondenberg and a sister Mary Biller both of Tiffin whom were very close.

Bernie graduated from Tiffin Calvert in 1973. During his younger years, he played on several all star baseball teams. Enlisted in the army 1974 until 1976. He had several associates’ degrees from The Ohio State University.

Bernie lived most of his life in Marion, Ohio.  He work at Whitey’s and for Cable Fulfilment on Oak Street. Due to health reason, he moved to Chillicothe, Ohio.  He loved to play bingo at the local church and was active at the VA. There he had made many friends throughout the community. Bernie was free spirited and was very proud of his Native American heritage. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cooking.

He had one daughter, Rachel Brown – Vondenberg whom he loved and cherished.  Rachel and her mother, Amy, reside in Marion.

Rachel and Amy would like to thank St. Rita’s Hospital in Lima, Ohio and Adena Hospital in Chillicothe, Ohio for all the care they provided.  A special thanks to Dr. Ojo who went above and beyond.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 29, 2014 @ 10:30 AM  at Boyd-Born Funeral Home with Pastor Brett Cornelius officiating.

Contributions can be made to Boyd Funeral Home to assist with funeral cost.
