John Richard Turner, age 89, of Marion passed away early Friday afternoon at his home.
Born in Marion on June 24, 1925 to Harry and Nestle (Freet) Turner, he was a graduate of Harding High School.
John was a veteran of WWII having served in the United States Navy.
He married the former Margaret Spires on April 6, 1946 who preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by 2 sons; Rick and Terry, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Surviving are 3 sons; Donald A. Turner, John (Jeanie) Turner and Mike (Linda Turner), a daughter; Sue (Ron) Reeves, 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Wednesday beginning at 11:00 AM at the Hughes-Allen Funeral Home where a celebration of John’s life will begin at 1:00 PM with Pastor Brett Gleespen officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Marion Cemetery.
