David Vincent Eastman, 59, of Whetstone River Road, was pronounced dead Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at his home in Cardington, Ohio after an extended illness. Born June 9, 1955 in Corpus Christi, Texas, Vince is the son of Norma Lou Dyer Eastman and Bruce Vincent Eastman of Caledonia, Ohio.
Vince attended Bowling Green State University and was a 1973 graduate of River Valley High School, where he ran track, pole vaulting to a record of 13’ 7 ½” in 1972. Vince worked most of his career as a cabinet maker in various shops, including his own, between his former homes in and around Washington D.C., and Charlottesville and Front Royal, Virginia. He was recognized for his craftsmanship in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area by the Washington Building Congress. Vince enjoyed canoeing, kayaking, fishing, reading, gardening, NASCAR and other sports, but especially loved living and spending time with friends around his Shenandoah Valley home in Front Royal.
Vince was preceded in death by his mother Norma Lou Dyer Eastman and grand-parents. Survivors include his son Rick (Amy) of Clarksburg, West Virginia, and his grandsons, Skylar and Aidan. He is also survived by his father, Bruce V. Eastman of Caledonia, his brothers Scott (Mark) Eastman of San Francisco and Brian (Susan) Eastman of Columbus, his sister Dr. Amy Eastman of Columbus, his nephew Zakary (Beth) Morvay, and his nieces Emily Morvay, and Katie and Andrea Eastman.
