Dorothy M. (Lawrence) Plough, 93, formerly of Marion

Dorothy M. (Lawrence) PloughDorothy M. (Lawrence) Plough, age 93, formerly of Marion, Ohio, was reunited with beloved family early Wednesday morning, December 31, 2014, at the Apostolic Christian Skylines Home in Peoria, Illinois, following a brief illness.

On October 15, 1921, Dorothy and her twin brother, John, were born to Paul and Dorothy (Guy) Lawrence. They were born very prematurely and not given much of a chance. After losing their mother due to complications in childbirth, Dorothy and John were raised by their grandparents, W.R. and Ella Lawrence in Marion, Ohio. Dorothy and John graduated from Marion Harding High School in the Class of 1939. Dorothy worked many years for her uncle, Ferdinand D. Lawrence , at the Lawrence Market on East Center Street.

Finding love later in life, Dorothy married Dane W. Plough on March 27, 1966. Together they shared over thirty-six wonderful years of marriage. He preceded her in death on April 6, 2002.

Very faithful, Dorothy was an active member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church until relocating to Illinois.

She will be dearly missed by two step-daughters: Dana Lochard of Pataskala, and Charlotte (Ken) Suda of Edelstein, IL; sister-in-law Peg Lawrence of Sarasota, FL; seven step-grandchildren: Chris (Tonja) Plough of Fredericktown, Joel (Kathy) Plough, Jason (Cindy) Lochard of Columbus, Jennifer (Chris) Moore of Cincinnati, Joshua (Mandy) Lochard of Pataskala, Todd (Christy) Suda of St. Peters, MO, Kathy (Marty) Hunt of Edelstein, IL; ten step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Including her husband and parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her step-son and wife, Larry (Mary) Plough; step-son-in-law Jerry Lochard; three brothers: Herbert, Donald and her twin John Lawrence; and a sister, Jean Fields.

Her family will greet friends from 10 – 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 10th, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion. Services honoring her life will follow there at 11 a.m., officiated by her grandson Pastor Chris Plough.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Macular Degeneration Foundation. They may be sent to the care of the funeral home.
