Billy Dozier, age 76, of Marion passed away unexpectedly January 1, 2015 at his home.
Born in Marion on October 24, 1938 to Leroy and Rosa (Flewellen) Dozier, Billy was a 1957 graduate of Marion Harding High School.
Billy loved sports, especially bowling, baseball and softball and was of course, a huge Buckeye fan. He had been employed by both Tecumseh Products and General Electric before retirement. He was a member of the Marion Senior Center and had been very involved with the Medgar Evers Elks Lodge prior to its closing.
Preceding him in death were 2 brothers; Bob Nunley and Morris Dozier, a sister; Edith Nunley and 1 great-grandchild. Survivors include his 2 daughters; Barbara (Theodore) Allen of Dalton, Lisa Shanklin of Canton, 6 grandchildren; Roderick, Catiana, Britnee, Trezhar, Stephen and Brittany, 13 great-grandchildren, a brother; Benny Dozier, his 2 best friends; Perry Rogers and R. C. Pickens, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
A Service of Homecoming will be held Monday at 1:00 PM at the Hughes-Allen Funeral Home with Elder Michael Wade officiating. Burial will follow in Grand Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at the Hughes-Allen Funeral Home.
