Juanita E. Hord, 91, of Marion

Juanita E. HordJuanita E. Hord passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of January 12, 2015 at Marion General Hospital following a seven month illness.

She was born on January 28, 1923 in Knox County, the daughter of George Metzger and Clara Mae Metzger Partlow. She spent most of her youth in the Claridon area graduating from Claridon High School in the class of 1941.

On September 16, 1945 she married Loren H. Hord who preceded her in death on March 8, 1988. Juanita enjoyed listening to gospel music, reading her Bible, camping for many years on the shores of Lake Erie, attending Mike Albert concerts (her favorite Elvis Impersonator) with her daughter and son-in-law. She looked forward to watching the Buckeyes play football, always dressed in Scarlet and Gray.

A woman of faith, she was a member of the Marion First Church of the Nazarene and attended Prime Timers some years ago. She also enjoyed attending and visiting friends at Marion Salem United Methodist Church.

After being a homemaker most of her married life, she decided she would like to care for children. She was totally devoted to the children she cared for over the years including several of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She cared for over twenty-five children.

Juanita is survived by her daughter Yvonne (Vonnie) and Richard (Dick) Dendinger and son Dwight and Christina Hord. She is also survived by her grandchildren Matt and Sonja Dendinger, Charlotte and Chris Danals, Amy and Johnnie Edler, Kevin and Wendy Hord, Crystal Rivers and step-grandson Aaron (Summer) Hodges, and great grandchildren Gabrielle Dendinger, Hadyn, Macyn and Londyn Danals, Brooke and Samantha Edler, Kiley and Brice Hord, Ryanna Rivers and Braylon Schambs, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Loren, son Dean L. Hord, three brothers Claude Metzger, Harold Metzger and Robert Metzger, twin grandchildren Luke and Sarah Hord and great granddaughter Lakyn Grace Danals.

Calling hours will be observed on Friday January 16 from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Service immediately following at 11:00 at the funeral home with Dwight Hord officiating. Burial will follow at the Grand Prairie Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Marion First Church of the Nazarene, Marion Salem United Methodist Church, and Streets of Gold Ministries.
