Richard “Doc” Eugene Creager, 76, of Marion passed away Monday, December 27, 2010 at The Ohio State University Medical Center.
Richard was born August 20, 1934 in Marion to the late James Murrey and Pauline (Conkle) Creager.
He married Janet Hess on August 27, 1987 in Marion.
Richard was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy Air Reserves. He retired from Whirlpool, and was a member of Richland Road Church of Christ.
Over the years Richard had been a volunteer for many organizations including the Red Cross, Marion City Fire Department, and Harding High School as an athletic trainer. He was even inducted to the M.H.H.S. Hall of Fame. He also helped with softball leagues at Garfield and Sawyer-Ludwig Parks.
Richard is survived by his wife Janet Creager; grandchildren, Brandon Miller, and Leslie (Brian) Carp of Marion; great grandchildren, Chloe Miller and Garrison Carp of Marion; step-daughter, Starling (Ronald) Cole of Marion; brother, James (Marilyn) Creager; sisters, Jackie (Troy) Evans of Florida, and Carolyn Haines of Warren, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Friday, December 31, 2010 at 1 PM at Richland Road Church of Christ officiated by Pastor Russell Howard. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery. Friends and loved ones may visit with the family from 11 AM until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Richland Road Church of Christ.
