Mildred L. Sankey, age 88, of Marion passed away Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Marion Manor Nursing Home.
She was born August 14, 1922 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Rade and Sophia (Grubich) Popovich.
She married Edwin W. Sankey on February 16, 1952 who died September 30, 2010.
She graduated from Central High School of Columbus and formerly worked as a comptometer operator for Pure Oil Company of Columbus prior to moving to Marion and marriage to Ed to begin her family.
She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, The O.S.U. Alumni Club and a Twig Volunteer at Marion General Hospital. She was an avid O.S.U. fan.
Mildred is survived by sons, Jeff W. (Cathy) Sankey of Dublin, Oh.,Mike E. (Kim) Sankey of Galena, Oh., grandaughter Jennifer (Ryan) Mitchell, Brother Nick (Dolly) Popovich, Delaware, Oh., sisters, Mary Fischer of Delaware, Oh., Dorothy Ulrich of Columbus, and a number of nieces and nephews.
A daughter Corol L. Sankey, a grandson Brian Sankey, three brothers, Mike, George and Elie Popovich are deceased.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors, 347 W. Center Street, Marion, Ohio with Rev. Colleen Ogle officiating. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Thursday prior to the funeral from 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m.
