Marion Senior Center hosting Sock Hop

The Marion Senior Center will host a nostalgic Sock Hop dance on Thursday, February 12, 2015, from 5:30 to 8pm.  Marion area residents age 50 and older are invited to take a trip down memory lane, as the Senior Center will be transformed into a 1950s high school gymnasium that evening, complete with a live band.

“The Revisions” will be the featured musical guests, playing popular hits from iconic entertainers of yesteryear, including Buddy Holly, Connie Frances, Chuck Berry, Patsy Cline and Elvis, to name a few. Members of the popular local band are Julie McGinnis, Matthew Uber and Damon Osborne.

In the spirit of the era, the dinner menu will feature Coney dogs, hot dogs, onion rings, root beer floats, and dessert. Guests are also encouraged to dress in 1950s and 60s retro attire.

Tickets for the Sock Hop (which include entertainment and the meal) are just $6 for Senior Center Members and $10 for Non-Members, and are available until Tuesday, February 10th at the Center’s Transportation Desk.
