Japan’s Suzuki (1898-1998) was the inventor of the  famed international method of music education, much of which is used in the Marion City and County Schools music programs. He often spoke of the ability of all children to learn things well, music and other subjects, and to build character, especially in the right environment: “Teaching music is not my main purpose.  I want to make good citizens.  If children hear fine music from the day of their birth, and learn to play it, they develop sensitivity, discipline and endurance.  They get a beautiful heart.”

RV 6th Grade Violin Students Delaney and Luke Goins will play a traditional fiddle tune, The Orange Blossom Special.

Musical selections by the RVHS Fab 4 String Quartet Aaron Suarez, violin; Cierra Ward, violin;  Megan Barrett, viola; and Callie Turner, cello will include the George Frideric Handel (1685 – 1759) Entrance of the Queen of Sheba, from Solomon and  Salute to Queen, arr.Larry Moore.

RV violin soloist Aaron Suarez, accompanied by pianist Sandra Becker, will perform Violin Concerto No II in G Major, Movement 1, Allegro Moderato by Joseph Haydn (1732-1809).

Turner; Wedding Prayer by Fern Glasgow Dunlap, arr. Maxine Hunter; and All I Ask of You from Phantom of the Opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber, arr. Naughtu.
