Tamela Jean Plotner age 56 of Martel passed away Wednesday evening February 11th at Heartland of Marion after a five year struggle with cancer.
She was born on May 10th, 1958 in Marion as the daughter of Ted & Nellie (Sexton) Watt of Marion. Her parents survive her in Marion.
On June 4th, 1976 she married Jerry Plotner and he survives her in Martel.
Tammy had worked for a period of time as clerk for Kroger Inc but she was best known throughout the country as an author of Astronomy Books. She had eight in publication. She had also written children’s instructional guides about the stars for NASA. She was past president of the Warren Rupp Observatory in Mansfield and was a member of the Astronomical League.
Besides her husband and parents Tammy is survived her two sons, Terry (Shannon) Plotner of Sycamore and Jon Plotner of Martel. There are 5 grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister Edwina Brewer of Marion. A gathering in Tammy’s memory will take place at the Martel United Methodist Church on Saturday February 14th from 2 – 4.
