William B. Redmond, age 84, of rural Marion, died quietly on Saturday, March 7, 2015 in his home.
Born on January 17, 1931, Bill was a son of the late Alva and Madge (George) Redmond.
On November 11, 1955, in the former Wesleyan Methodist Church, he married Helen F. Jones.
Bill was a graduate of Marion Harding High School, class of 1949. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving 1951-1953. Bill served both stateside and was stationed on Cheju Island, Korea.
Bill retired from GTE (Verizon) in 1993, after 26 years of service.
Bill enjoyed a number of recreational activities: music, farming, exercising, and flying in his Ultra Light.
Surviving besides his wife of 59 and a half years is a daughter, Laura Redmond, and a son, Stephen Redmond, both of Marion, along with five grandchildren, Kenton, Gloria, Sierra, Joel, and Jacob and five great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Rockford Redmond of Richwood, David (Nancy) Redmond of Marion, as well as many nieces and nephews survive.
Twin sons, Peter and Paul, a grandson, Michael, and a sister, Martha Grate, preceded him in death.
Highest above all things, Bill was a Christian. He was converted in 1959. Bill was devoted to the faith.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 P.M. on Wednesday March 11, 2015 at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday March 12, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Pastor Steven Malone from the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Nevada, and Rev. Robert Jones will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
