Paul Edward Bowman, age 84 of Marion, passed away on Wednesday March 18, 2015 at the Woodside Village Care Center in Mount Gilead.
Paul was born on August 13, 1930 in Marion, the son of Charles Edward Bowman and Mary Ruth (Saizon) David.
Paul was retired from the Eaton Corporation. He was a dedicated machinist that worked many years and has countless stories to tell.
He was drafted into the United States Army, and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict.
Paul was a music enthusiast. He was a member of his cousin’s band, “Billy and the Buggies”, where he played the guitar. He also had an appreciation for Cuckoo Clocks; 14 of them hung on the walls of his home chiming every hour on the hour. Paul enjoyed the occasional beer at the Oakland with his longtime friend, Jimmy.
He took great pride in his home. He was meticulous with his yard and the gardens. He spent a lot of time working on his car; waxing it once a week to prepare for their weekly grocery store outing which occurred every Saturday.
Paul is survived by his longtime girlfriend Vinnie L. Vance; children: Jeffrey L. (Lydia) Bowman and Paula Brockmeyer; Vinnie’s daughter, Pamela (Steve) Sexton; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Stella Bowman and siblings.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 26th, at the Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Home, 347 West Center St., Marion from 10 a.m. to Noon. Graveside funeral services with military honors provided by the Marion County United Veterans Council will immediately follow in the Chapel Heights Memory Gardens.
