The MARMET Drug Task Force said a search warrant executed late Wednesday evening resulted in five arrests and the seizure of what they described as a “huge amount” of narcotics.
On March 25, 2015 at 11:27 p.m., MARMET executed the search warrant at 262 ½ North State Street in the City of Marion with the assistance of the Marion Police Department’s Special Response Team, deputies of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, and officers of the Marion Police Department.
Five males were arrested in the house and taken to the Multi-County Correctional Center on felony drug charges pending the filing of formal charges by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.
Arrested were:
- Manuel Allen, 31, of 262 ½ N. State Street, Marion
- Christopher Sankey, 28, of 279 South Grand Avenue, Marion
- Alvin Johnson, 28, of Chicago, Illinois
- Durrain Land, 25, of Chicago, Illinois
- Anthony Riley, 41, of 317 Jamesway, Marion
Officials said officers seized 149.9 grams of heroin, 46.8 grams of cocaine, 8.2 grams of marijuana, 15 additional bindles of cocaine, $1,362.00 in cash, various items of drug paraphernalia and a stolen .25 caliber Colt handgun. Officials reported that these drugs have an approximate street value of $40,000.
“Tonight, MARMET stopped a significant drug trafficking organization in our community and I am very proud of the work that these detectives have done on this case so far,” said Major Jay McDonald of the Marion Police Department and MARMET Drug Task Force.
