Lawrence Eugene “Larry” Peterson, age 85, of Marion, died Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Heartland of Marion.
Larry was born December 9, 1929 in Moose Lake, MN to the late Louis Sigfrid and Helene Anne (Streich) Peterson.
Larry served his county in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. On April 30, 1987, after 26 years, Larry retired as an engineer from GTE and Verizon.
Larry married Mary E. Alderman on October 6, 1956; she preceded him in death on October 12, 1993.
Larry was a member of The Marion Elks, ITPA, St. Mary Church, where he was an usher, and volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul in Marion.
Larry is survived by daughters, Cathy (Ronald) Carr of Marion and Patti (Art) Harbolt of Marion; grandchildren, Kris (Kellie) Twining, Jeremy (Kris) Carr, Ron Carr Jr., Jo (Daniel) Dorstweitz, Sarah (Travis) Sill, and Arthur (Stephanie) Harbolt; great-grandchildren, Ally, Lydia, Taylor, Amber, Ivy, Mia, Max, Kade, Joshau, Ron III, Preston, Parker, Andrew and Matt; and nephew, George (Scott Scmidtke) Pauley. He was predeceased by sister, Joanne M. Pauley and grandson, Andrewe McDaniels-Twining.
Visitation will be held 4 until 7 PM Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors. A funeral service will be held 10:30 AM Friday, April 3, 2015 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by Marion County United Veteran’s Council.
