Ernest R. Hanshaw, age 68, of Marion passed away on Monday, April 13, 2015, at 1:50 p.m. in the Dublin Methodist Hospital, Dublin, Ohio.
He was born in Marion, Ohio on September 13, 1946 to Charles and Willa Mae (Cox) Hanshaw Webster.
Ernest was preceded in death by both his parents and his stepfather; Tom Webster.
He was a 1965 graduate of Harding High School and served in the U.S.Army during the Vietnam War, stationed in Germany.
Ernest married the former Janis K. Tackett on January 31, 1969 in Marion, Ohio and she survives.
He was a member of the 1st Church of God where he truly enjoyed his church family and worked countless hours with their bible school. Ernest had a lifelong interest in automobiles, especially drag racing.
He was employed with the Quaker Oats Co. until their closing and went on to work at Honda of America for 15 years until his retirement.
Surviving along with his wife; Janis are a son; Todd (Kim) Hanshaw of Marion, OH., two brothers; Keith (Nancy) Hanshaw of Barberton, OH. and Gerald (Karen) Hanshaw of Marion, OH., a half brother; Les Hanshaw of Lexington, KY., a sister-in-law; Theresa Hanshaw of Marion, OH., two grandchildren; Brooke & Kyle Hanshaw, and several nieces & nephews.
Ernest was preceded in death by a brother; Larry Hanshaw.
Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Friday, April 17, 2015, from 4-7 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the Fairpark Baptist Church on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at 9:00 a.m. with burial to follow in the Marion Cemetery. Rev. Ohmar Swart and Rev. Naradin James will officiate. Military rites will be provided by the Marion County Veterans Council.
