Audrey Elaine (Holmes) DeWeber, Marion, passed away quietly on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at home in the company of her family, following a lengthy illness.
Audrey was born in Portland, Oregon on June 8, 1928. She was the fourth of six children to Claude and Martha (Kassebaum) Holmes. She attended Cascade College in Portland where she met and married Dick DeWeber in 1947. They celebrated sixty-three years of marriage June 7, 2010, just five days before he passed away on June 12.
Dick and Audrey raised their two children in Whittier, California and moved to Marion with their son and wife in 2009 where they were active members of Marion’s First Church of the Nazarene.
Audrey is survived by her son, Steve (Cindy) deWeber of Marion; and daughter, Rebecca (Don) Black of Lake Elsinore, CA. She had six grand-children, Penny Black, Flavia (Sam) Gibson and Candace (Dan) Toth, all of Madison, WI, Adam (Gretchen) deWeber of Raleigh, NC, Eric (Laura) deWeber of Boca Raton, FL and Amy deWeber of Nashville, TN. She is also survived by ten great-grand children, one sister, one brother and countless nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a granddaughter, Kristi deWeber.
Audrey lived to raise her family and live out her faith by serving God in the church. She was a good wife, mother, grandmother and friend, working her entire career in the steel industry in Los Angeles. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Wednesday night she was “changed in the twinkling of an eye” and is now likely rehearsing with Heaven’s choir, in the soprano section.
The family expresses deep gratitude to Joyce’s Angels and Heartland Hospice.
A visitation will be held Monday, April 20, 2015 from 5:00-8:00pm at First Church of the Nazarene, 233 W Church St., Marion, Ohio with the funeral service on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 10:30 am at the church with Pastor Don Diehl officiating. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to First Church of the Nazarene. Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors, a division of Snyder Funeral Homes, is honored to have been chosen to serve the DeWeber Family.
