Artice Ray Goode, 77, of Marion

Artice Ray GoodeArtice Ray Goode, age 77, of Marion, Ohio, and formerly of Sandusky, Ohio, died Wednesday morning, April 22, 2015, at Heartland of Marion following an extended illness.

On May 18, 1937, Ray was born in Lime Stone County, Alabama, one of nine children of the late Frederick and Annis (Rose) Goode.

When Ray was 18 years old, he moved to Sandusky, Ohio, to live with his aunt and find work. Shortly after arriving there, he met Judith Hush, whom he married a few months later on July 1, 1961. They shared fifty three years together and lovingly raised four children.

For 23 years, Ray worked for Prepared Foods of Sandusky. He also was an honorary member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 83 in Sandusky.

Ray lived to work. From dusk till dawn, Ray was on the move, working several jobs, doing projects for his family and friends, or tinkering in the garage. One of the few things he would relax for, was his daily coffee with “special creamer”.

Ray had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. He also loved to tell stories and spend time with his family.

He will be missed by his wife, Judy Goode of Marion; four children: Thomas Goode of Sandusky, Timothy (Donya) Goode of Louisville, KY, Joanne (Bill) Brooks, and Tonya (Mark) Diaz, both of Marion; seven grandchildren: Alexandria Goode, Chaquille, Devon and Arielle Brooks, and Kierstan, Thalia, and Caleb Diaz; two brothers: Marshall and David Goode; two sisters: Bessie Williams and Ruth Parker; and several close brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Including his parents, Ray was preceded in death by three brothers: James, Shelby and Clinton Goode; and a sister, Joyce Goode.

Memorial services honoring his life will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 1st, at the Dayspring Wesleyan Church, 2431 Marion-Mt Gilead Rd (SR 95), Marion, with Pastor David Holdren officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help the family with funeral expenses.
