Barbara Ann Wilcox, 82, of Marion

Barbara Ann WilcoxBarbara Ann Wilcox, age 82, of Marion, passed away April 24th surrounded by her loving family at the Marion General Hospital following a brief illness.

She was born April 27, 1932, the daughter of Frederick York and Clara Ruby Davis.

On March 19th, 1947 she crossed the bridge of Greenup, Kentucky and married the love of her life, Billy Gene Wilcox. He preceded her in death on September 16th, 2002.

Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. She spent thousands of hours at the ball park watching her children play baseball and supporting Marion Baseball for Youth. She enjoyed playing cards, hanging with with friends and attending the sporting events of her children and grandchildren.

Barb held several jobs during her lifetime but was most proud of being a wife and mother. Always willing to help others she volunteered for the American Cancer Society and Marion General Hospice.

She leaves a legacy and lifetime of love to her five boys: Billy (Melody), Jeffrey, Kevin, Brian and Fred Wilcox. Also left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren: Billy Wilcox, Tim Wilcox, Jeremy Word, Jennifer Word, Kayla Boggs, Kimberly Wilcox and Andrew Wilcox and
Great grandchildren, Abigail, Trevor and Zach Wilcox, Cody and Madison Word, Kyra Wilcox, Jackson Genzman, Cay’deon Wallace and Cayliana Boggs.  She is also survived by her brother, Francis (Dolly) Davis; sister-n-law, Betty Davis, Brother-in-law and sister- in-law: Bob and Edna Wilcox of Richwood, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sisters: Carol Davis, Mildred Somerlot, Virginia Aquilino, Doris Thacker and Shirley McGowan; and by one brother, Jack Davis.

Her family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Monday, April 27th, at the Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors, 347 W. Center St., Marion.  Services honoring her life will also be held there at 11 a.m. on Tuesday.  Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.
