Betty M. Elliott, age 90, of Marion, went home to be with the Lord Saturday morning, April 25, 2015, at Heartland of Marion.
On May 7, 1924, Betty was born in Jackson, Ohio, the older of two children of the late Pearl and Iva (Coffman) Carter.
Betty married the love of her life, Eugene Elliott, on February 27, 1940, and together they shared 50 years of marriage. He preceded her in death in May of 1990.
A loving homemaker, Betty took pride in caring for her husband and four children.
Very faithful, Betty was a member of the Grace Baptist Church.
Betty was an active member of the American Legion Post 162 Auxiliary, 8 & 40 and VFW. She worked hard at the Ordinance plant during World War II and later on at the Fulfillment Corp. She enjoyed many years of watching her husband, children and grandchildren participate in the Marion Cavaliers and Marion Cadets Drum Corps, often volunteering in support aspects of the activity.
Most important of all to Betty is her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Truly, her children and grandchildren were her life. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Larry (Janet) Elliott, Donna (Bernard) Starling, and Rebecca (Richard) Starling; a daughter-in-law, Janice Elliott; 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Including her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by two sons: Gary “Gig” and Kenneth Elliott; and her brother, Ostel Wayne Carter (World War II).
Her family will greet friends from 5 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28th, at the Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors, 347 W. Center St., Marion. Services celebrating her homegoing will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Grace Baptist Church (address below) with Pastor Nicholas Worden officiating. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 685 Delaware Ave., Marion, OH 43302, or Grace Baptist Church, 1560 Marion-Marysville Rd., Marion, OH 43302.
