Two Ohio Republican legislators, including Marion’s Senator, have been picked by a national GOP organization for a yearlong training program on how to advance their political careers.
State Sen. David Burke of Marysville, who represents Marion County, and state Rep. Sarah LaTourette of Geauga County were named to GOPAC’s 2015 Class of Emerging Leaders, the political organization announced in a release Monday.
The two are among 23 state lawmakers from around the country who will attend a GOPAC summit in June to learn how to better advance their ideas and “prepare for the rigors of campaigning for higher office,” according to the release.
“Our Emerging Leaders program ensures a roster of prepared and tested Republicans ready to lead in their state legislatures and run for higher office.” said GOPAC Chairman David Avella in a statement. “As evidenced by past honorees now serving in Congress or as leaders in their state legislative chambers, this program has proven effective at advancing the Republican Party’s next generation.”
