A 2013 Ottawa truck driven by Brian Huffman, 56, of Prospect, was turning left from a private drive going eastbound on State Route 95.  The 2008 Wabash trailer in tow was hauling washers and dryers.

A 1993 Chrysler New Yorker driven by Keith Walker, 43, of Marion, was traveling westbound on State Route 95 approaching the Whirlpool entrance. There were four other occupants in the vehicle.  Dawn Smith, 43, of Marion, was sitting in the middle front.  Keith Wood, 45, of Marion, was sitting in the right front seat.  Corey Layne, 23, of Marion, was sitting in the left rear. The Patrol said the 2013 Ottawa truck turned left from the private drive onto State Route 95 going eastbound.  The 1993 Chrysler was westbound on State Route 95 and struck the Wabash trailer on its left side.  The Chrysler continued down the side of the trailer and struck the rear tires and came to a stop on the roadway.

Huffman was not injured.  All occupants of the Chrysler were removed by “mechanical means.”  They were taken to Marion General Hospital and later transported to Grant Medical Center and Riverside Hospital.

The State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Marion Township Fire Department, Pleasant Township Fire Department, Marion City Fire Department, Battle Run Fire Department, ODOT, and Marion County Sheriff’s Department.

The roadway was closed for approximately three and half hours.  Heavy fog was in the area when the crash occurred.

The Patrol stated that toxicology results are pending and the crash remains under investigation.
