Eugenia “Miss Jeanne” Conklin was born on May 10, 1915 to Ola and Gertrude Ward in Sycamore, Ohio. She passed away on May 8, 2015 at 6:58 PM at Heartland of Marion, two days before her 100th birthday.
On January 24, 1941, Eugenia married Lowell “Larry” Conklin in Blanchard, Ohio. Together she and Larry owned and operated Larry & Jeanne’s Restaurant west of Marion for 20 years. Larry passed away on May 16, 1976.
Eugenia was called “Miss Jeanne” by parents and students of Edye Cook School of Dance. She was the School’s Office Manager for nine years. Between other jobs, church women’s circles and church activities, she also volunteered at the Palace Theatre. Eugenia was a long time member of Emanuel Lutheran Church. Eugenia was a resident at Heartland of Marion for eleven years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Larry, two sisters; Mary Jane and Ruth, and her parents. She is survived by a nephew; James Price of New Mexico, three nieces; Theresa Zapranoff of Mercer, Wisconsin, Sharon Owens of Lakewood, Colorado, and Jeanne Kochis of Highland Ranch, Colorado, many loyal friends, good friends; Edye Cook, Keeli Cook, Rabbi Seth Cook, and her guardian for years; Robert Columber.
Boyd-Born Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. True to Eugenia’s wishes there will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be conducted at Claridon Township Cemetery by Emanuel Lutheran Church Associate in Ministry; Kevin Kehn on Friday, May 15, 2015, at 10:00 AM.
