David H. McCarty Sr. age 81 of Marion, Ohio went to be with the Lord on May 15, 2015 at 7:43 pm at the Heartland of Marion following an extended illness.
David was born May 9, 1934 in Paintsville Kentucky to the late Gratts and Gladys (Lemaster) McCarty.
He was a graduate of Oil Springs High School in Kentucky.
Upon moving his family to Columbus, Ohio, he worked construction for George Igles many years before moving to Marion, Ohio where he retired from Techumsa after more than 20 years of service.
David enjoyed going to the Christian radio station to listen to the gospel singing. Before David’s health started to fail, he could be found listening and talking on his CB radio to friends and family. His CB name was “White Cadillac”.
So in David’s words he would say, “Well, good buddies you all have a good night. I will catch you on the flipside. This is White Cadillac signing off.”
David is survived by three daughters, Rita (Bruce) Emptage of LaRue, Ohio, Margie (William) Marshall of Marion, Ohio, Lorene (Leonard) Butcher of Salyersville Kentucky, a son, David H. McCarty Jr. of Morral, Ohio, one sister, Faye Piatt of Springfield, Ohio, ten grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. David is also survived by a very special friend, Juanita Boseman of Marion, Ohio.
Besides his parents, David was preceded in death by a son; Kenneth Joe McCarty, a daughter; Neva Jean McCarty, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Wednesday May 20, 2015 from 5 to 8 pm. Graveside services will be held on a later date.
