Ralph E. “Bones” Harris, age 77, of Marion passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at 5:00 PM in his residence.
He was born on April 25, 1938 in Morral, Ohio to the late Culver Ralph and Nellie (McElroy) Harris.
Ralph married the mother of his children, the former Jackie Frost in 1955.
He is survived by a son; Terry (Joanne) Harris of Marion, three daughters; Cindy (Michael) Rinker of Marion, Judi (Mike) Calmes of Marion, & Jill (David) Borland of Richwood, a sister; Rose Johnston of Marion, five grandchildren; Brett Rinker, Michael (Jeannie) Buckner, Michelle Buckner, Terry (Lindsey) Harris Jr., & Payne Townley, five great grandchildren; Cody E. Harris, Jaidyn R. Harris, Jacob Hines, Lynsey Wright, & Alex Buckner, one great great granddaughter; Ella Hines, several nieces & nephews, and his four legged companion; Sadie.
Ralph was preceded in death by a sister; Joan Williams.
“Bones” could always be seen at the local drag strip. He had a deep love of drag racing and motorcycles. He always enjoyed his time spent with the “coffee crew” at McDonalds each morning.
Ralph was employed for 34 years in the maintenance department at Quaker Oats Co. until their closing and continued as a maintenance man at Marca Schools until his retirement in 2001.
Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Sunday, May 31, 2015, from 1:00 – 4:00 PM. Pastor Mark Schuring will conduct the funeral service in the funeral home on Monday at 10:00 AM with burial to follow in the Caledonia Cemetery.
