Kara L. Lust, 39 of Prospect died Monday, June 8, 2015 at The James following a 3-year battle with esophageal cancer. She was born December 9, 1975 in Marion.
On July 20, 2002 she married her best friend, Brad Lust at the LaRue United Methodist Church.
She was a faithful lifetime member of the LaRue United Methodist Church. Kara was an assistant office manager at Musgrave Orthodontics in Delaware and Waldo. She had a good rapport with patients and their families and was devoted to her job.
A 1994 graduate of Elgin High School, she was a loyal Elgin Comet fan. She loved family get-togethers and watching her son Nash play sports. She was a fan of the Cleveland Browns and the OSU Buckeyes. Kara was an avid runner and was proud that she had run in two marathons.
She was a loving mother and a caring friend and will be missed by many.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her son, Nash Lust, at home; her father, Ron (Jennifer) Ratliff, Marion; her mother, Rhonda L. (Adam) James Irey, LaRue; her grandfather, Ron E. James, LaRue; her grandmother, Shirley Retterer, Lakeview; two brothers, Ryan (Richard) Ratliff, Union City, New Jersey; Reed Irey, LaRue; two sisters, Taylor Irey, LaRue; Rachel Ratliff, Marion; her mother and father-in-law, Greg and Marsha Lust, LaRue; and many loving extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Shirley James; her two grandfathers, Ronald E. Ratliff and Phil Retterer.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 12, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the LaRue United Methodist Church with Pastor Mike Raypholtz officiating. Burial will follow in LaRue Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday, June 11 from 3 to 8 PM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, LaRue.
