Jimmie W. Spears, 65, of Marion

Jimmie W. Spears age 65 of Marion went to be with the Lord January 27, 2011 at 5:00 AM.

He was born May 28, 1945 to the late Homer and Eva Marie (Austin) Spears.

He graduated from Ridgadale High School in 1963. He was employed by Todco Overhead Door for over 25 years.

He suffered his first heart attack in the late 80's. He became a heart transplant recipient in 1990 at the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. The next twenty years was filled with a battle to try to regain his health.

Jimmie prided himself with family and friends but most of all with his faith in God. He continuely shared his faith and the blessings and miracles God had given him. He remained a faithful servant until God called him home.

Jimmie was blessed with a marriage of 42 years to Thelma (Brown) Spears. They had four children daughters, Loriann (Jimmy) Coykendall of Prospect, Suzan (Scott) Still of Nelsonville, sons, Gregory (Valerie) Spears of Marion, Joseph (Christina) Spears of Marion, and was blessed with 13 grandchildren.

He is also survived by his sisters, Norma Rogers of Edison, Carolyn Wilson of Brush Ridge, Marlene Black of Marion, Connie Huston of Tenn., Sheryl Boggs of Marion, brothers, Stanley Spears of Marion, Ronnie Spears of Marion.

Preceding in death were brothers Genie Spears and Robert Spears and a sister Gloria Fosnaugh.

Jimmie would have givin a special thanks to his niece, Nancy Fields for her continual guidance and support, and to Marion General Hospital Hospice for care and support.

Visitation for Jimmie will be held Sunday, January 30, 2011 2 – 6 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. The funeral will be held Monday, January 31, 2011 10 AM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Irey officiating. Burial will follow at Meeker Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Marion General Hospital Hospice Quality of Life in care of the Boyd-Born Funeral Home.
