Troy E. Evans, 85, of Leesburg, FL., formerly of Marion, OH., passed away at home on Sunday, June 7, 2015.
Troy is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jacqueline S. (Creager) Evans, sons; David G. Evans and his companion; Rose Race of West Homestead, PA., Daniel B. Evans and wife; Debi (DiCroce) of South Lyon, MI., and Douglas S. Evans and wife Tamara (Blake) of Galena, OH., grandsons; Brian Evans, Scott Evans, Joe Ranager, and Troy Evans, older brother ; Marvin M. Evans Jr. of Marion, OH., younger sister; Chryil Hodges of West Carrollton, OH., and nine nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Marvin M. Evans Sr. and Mary E. (Keltner) Evans.
Born and raised in Marion, Troy was a 1948 graduate of Marion Harding High School.
Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1949, and served in the U.S. Naval Reserves until 1957.
Troy worked for the Marion Star for 18 years before joining the Jay H. Maish Advertising Co. in 1966, where he served as vice president until 1994. He then owned and operated his own advertising and public relations company, Troy Evans and Associates, until he retired in 2000.
Troy was an active member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Marion, the Marion YMCA (Y-Mens) organization and the Marion Jaycees.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2015, at 11:00 AM in the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 241 S. Prospect St., Marion, OH. The family will receive visitors prior to the funeral service beginning at 9:30 AM. Guests are invited to join the family for lunch in the church parlors following the funeral service. The family will attend an interment ceremony Friday afternoon at the Marion Cemetery.
