James “Jim” J. Conley, 65, of Marion

James “Jim” J. Conley, 65, of Marion, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Marion General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was born May 30, 1945 in Flatfork, Kentucky to the late Marion and Birdie (Hall) Conley.

Jim was a United States Army Veteran and served in and during the Vietnam War. He worked in maintenance at Smith Clinic, was the owner of the Hub Bar, and had also been employed with Tecumseh Products. He was a certified HVAC Technician and was also proud of his UAW background. Jim was a member of American Legion Post 584.

Jim is survived by his wife Rose (Jones) Conley whom he married March 10, 2000 in Marion; son, Devven Beaver of Marion; daughters, Shana (Kent) Bosart of Green Camp, Danielle (Jack) Trachtenberg of Marion, Chelsea Conley of Marion, Katherine (John) Hamilton of Marion, and Lisa (Konrad) Young of Delaware, OH; grandchildren, Korey James Bosart, Jacques, Jayelen, and Janaiye Braddy, Jace Trachtenberg, Amanda (Zach) Baker, Ashley (Hobie) Scarberry, Sarah (Josh) Armstrong, Eric Conley, Katelyn Hamilton and Ryan Johnson; great grandchildren, Kaleb Baker, and Hayden Armstrong; brothers, Paul of Moraine, OH, Lee of Fairborn, OH, Walter of Marion, and Preston of Florida; and sister, Betty Jo Phelps of Groveport, OH.

He was preceded in death by his son, Ernest Eugene “Ernie” Johnson; brother, Calvin; and sisters, Lizzie, and Janet Sue.

Jim had a heart of gold. He knew no stranger and considered everyone a friend. His welcoming smile and jolly laugh brought comfort to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at 11 AM at Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Pastor Grover Caudill will officiate the service and Military Honors will be performed by Marion County Veteran’s Council. Friends and loved ones may visit with the family Tuesday, February 1 from 2-4, 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
