Karen Jean (Barrick) Perry, 73, of Marion, OH, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2015, at Presidential Center after a courageous battle with cancer.
Karen was born on July 3, 1941, in Newark, OH, to the late Russel and Marjorie Barrick. She was preceded in death by her sisters Linda and Sandra. She was a 1959 graduate of Marion Harding and married her high school sweetheart, Melvin Perry, on November 15, 1959 in Marion, OH.
Karen was devoted to her family and friends, always loved singing, and enjoyed working in her garden. She was passionate about supporting veterans and all current military personnel and served as secretary and chaplain of the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion Post #162 in Marion.
Karen worked at King’s Department Store and Fulfillment Corporation of America as a payroll accountant before retiring in 2000.
She is survived by her husband Melvin; children Douglas Perry of Marion, OH, Elaine (Mark) Botz of Katy, TX and Brian (Lisa) Perry of Concord, NC. Grandchildren: Douglas II (Amanda), Elizabeth (Eric), Hollie, Christopher (Britt), Jason, Justin, Marissa, Jake and Dylan and great-grandsons Carter and Ethan.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 29, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Boyd-Born Funeral Home in Marion. Pastor Dwight Hord will preside. Burial will follow at Marion Cemetary.
