Lawrence W. "Larry" Snyder age 91 of Marion, Ohio, passed away Monday January 31, 2011 at The Kingston of Marion.
He was born January 13, 1920 in Fredricktown, Ohio to the late Lee L. and Charlotte (Hodges) Snyder.
On January 27, 1946 in Marion, Ohio, Larry married the former Kathlyn Baker and she preceded him in death on September 12, 2003 in Marion, Ohio.
After thirty one years of service, Larry retired from the former B.F. Goodrich Co. as an Engineering Storeroom Clerk. He also was with Standard Oil Co. for five years and drove for ten years with Plaza Pontiac.
Larry was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and Church Host and did night security at Epworth.
He was a 1938 graduate of Chesterville High School and was active in Prospect and Marion Senior Centers.
Larry was a U.S. Army Veteran of W.W.II as a member of the 36th Armored Infantry and was involved in the Battle of The Buldge Conflict. In Marion, Larry was a member of V.F.W. Post #7201 where he was Chaplain and Past Commander.
Surviving Larry is a son, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; David E. (Margaret) Snyder of Marion, Ohio; Michele (Patrick) Litell of Marion, Ohio, Lori (Kip) Yurt of Albion, Ind., William (Angie) Snyder of Waldo, Ohio, Dwight Snyder of Powell, Ohio, and Ben Lehman, Brandon and Blake Litell, Vincent and Dallas Yurt, and Marina Maynard.
Besides his parents, Larry was preceded in death by a son, Gary L. Snyder and a sister.
Funeral Services will be Monday February 7, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home with Chaplain Daniel Kiger officiating. Burial will follow in the Grand Prairie Cemetery with Military Rites by the Marion County United Veterans Council. Friends may call at the funeral home one prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M.
