The Marion County Board of Elections (BOE) is announcing a two hour training class on Campaign Finance Reporting Basics. The session will be led by Jason Miller, Assistant Campaign Finance Administrator for the Ohio Secretary of State.
The training includes the basics every candidate, potential candidate, and campaign treasurer needs to know in order to correctly report the required campaign finance information to the Ohio Secretary of State. It is strongly recommended that anyone currently running for office, their designated treasurers, or anyone considering a run for office should attend.
The BOE says that understanding this information before reporting will save time and prevent frustration for campaign officials. This training is free and open to the public.
The training session agenda will include:
- Campaign Finance for Local Elections
- How to get started
- Reporting options available
- When / how / what to report
- Fundraiser Reporting
- Permitted Expenditures
- Verification
- Disclaimers
- Audit process
- Audit triggers
- Q & A
Training session will take place on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the Marion County Building in the Prospect Meeting Room on the Lower Level.
