Steven L. Bomas, 89 years of age, peacefully passed away on Monday, July 31, 2015 in hospice care with OhioHealth Hospice.
Steve was born in 1926 in Marion, Ohio to Leon and Anna (Ghenco) Bomas.
He graduated from Harding High School, and attended The Ohio State University before enlisting in the Army for WWII, serving in Japan and the Philippines. He was the Master Chef of the historic Hotel Harding in Marion, Ohio, before becoming owner and operator of Weller’s Bar and Grill in Marion.
He was married to Helen (Settos) Bomas for 59 years, who survives. Steve and Helen had four children, Anna, Leon, Connie and Harriet, all of whom survive.
Steve was preceded in death by his only sibling, William Bomas.
Steve was a very loving husband and father, and adored his granddaughters, Weston and Demitria Bowers (daughters of Connie and Jim Bowers), and his canine companion, Niko. Steve was a most humble, sincere, loyal and honest man who was strong in his faith. His great sense of humor and kindness will be missed by many.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2015 from 9-10 AM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 10 AM at the funeral home with Father Michael Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Marion Cemetery with Marion County Veterans Council conducting military honors for Steve.
