Gaynell (Smith) Bowen, age 72, passed away August 7, 2015 at her home with her family at her side.
She was born in Marion, Ohio on April 1, 1943 to the late Fredric and Pauline (Ashley) Smith and was raised in Green Camp, Ohio.
Gaynell enjoyed her outings with her children going to yard sales, enjoyed cook outs with her family and friends and was a stickler for keeping her home clean.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years; Billie A. Bowen, 4 sons; Roger (Roslyn) Bowen, Danny (Cindy) Bowen, George (Joyce) Bowen and Billie (Jamie) Bowen, all of Marion, her daughter; Anita (Bryan) Hunt of Newport News, Virginia, 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sisters; Marian Smith of Apopka, Florida and Lana Mullins of Marion and brothers; Mike Smith and Johnnie Smith, both of Marion.
Gaynell will be greatly missed by all her knew her.
Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the Hughes-Allen Funeral Home. Services celebrating her life will be held Wednesday at 1:00 PM at Hughes-Allen Funeral Home with Rev. Barkley Slone officiating. Burial will follow at a later date.
