Virginia Fern Myers, age 93, passed away Thursday August 20th at her residence.
Born October 30, 1921 in Marion Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Maude (Heist) Mahaffey.
She is survived by her sister; Ruthie Campbell and was preceded in death by four bothers; Carl, Robert, Henry, and Wayne Mahaffey and six sisters; Helen Andrews, Glenna Mae Davis, Martha Mahaffey, Esther Cottrill, Iona Shipman and Betty Mahaffey.
Virginia married Henry Eugene Myers on January 27, 1940 in Kentucky. They enjoyed 52 years together. Henry preceded Virginia in death on August 2, 1992.
She loved her family very much. She is survived by three children, her son; Gary E. Myers (Annie) of Indian Lake and her daughters; Connie J. Myers Cotterman (Jerry) of Newark and Linda V Myers Fichtner (Doug) of Millersport; eight grandchildren; Jodi Myers Rice (Jeff), Eric Myers (Molly), Jeff Cotterman (Wendy), Todd Cotterman (deceased), Deanna Cotterman Kashner (Herk), Greg Fichtner (Sonja), Jennifer Fichtner Buehrer (Greg), and Chris Fichtner (Debbie); 24 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by one great-great-grandson.
A former longtime resident of Marion, Ohio, Virginia graduated from Harding High School and later retired from B.F. Goodrich after 25 years of service. She was an active member of the Forest Lawn Presbyterian Church, serving on many committees and as a Deacon. She enjoyed taking good care of herself and being with friends and family. Some favorite pastimes were walking in the mall, socializing with her friends, playing cards and camping. She was a member of the Del Ray Camping Club.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:30 am on Monday August 24, 2015 at the Forest Lawn Presbyterian Church in Marion Ohio. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of the services at the church. Burial will follow the service at Marion Cemetery.
