Richard C. Cornely age 79 of Marion, Ohio passed away August 25, 2015 at Presidential Center after an extended illness.
He was born April 10, 1936 in Marion, Ohio to the late Justin and Dorothy (Seebach) Cornely.
On August 31, 1956 he married Judith (Campbell).
Richard graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1954 and was a life member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was employed for the U.S. Postal Service for 41 years and was a life member of N.A.L.C. #280. He really enjoyed working 27 years for The Heart of Ohio Football Association as a football official and was a baseball and softball official. He also volunteered for many years as a score keeper for Marion Catholic football and baseball.
Richard is survived by his wife, Judith Cornely of Marion, OH., two daughters, Rhonda K. (Dan) Virden of Williston, FL., Tricia A. (Brian) Lightfoot of Marion, OH., three sons, Jeffrey L. (Theresa) Cornely of Marion, OH., Timothy A. (Tracey) Cornely of Mt. Dora FL., James E. Cornely of Marion, OH., 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, two brothers, Dan (Charlene) Cornely of Sarasota, FL., William (Shirley) Cornely of Columbus, OH., and several nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Richard “Rick” Cornely, his brother, Jerry Cornely and a great granddaughter.
Visitation for Richard will be Friday, August 28, 2015 from 10 – 11:30 AM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 12 noon at St. Mary’s Cemetery with Father Thomas Buffer officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to National Multiple Sclerosis Society, P.O.
