Jack Eugene Murphy, age 72, of Marion passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at 7:06 PM in the Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
He was born in Columbus, Ohio on September 13, 1942 to the late Raymond “Wayne” and Helen (Gatts) Murphy.
Jack married the former Dorothy “Dottie” Laposki in Columbus, Ohio on October 21, 1968 and she survives in Marion.
He attended Delphos Jefferson High School in Delphos, Ohio. Jack retired from Marion City Transit and worked as a CDL bus trainer and bus driver.
He was a member of the Prospect Street United Methodist Church. He enjoyed wood carving and travel. Jack was a member of the Oliver Lodge #0447 in Caledonia, Ohio and The Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus. Jack served in the U.S. Navy and was also a counselor at the Community Recovery Center.
He is survived by his wife; Dorothy, two daughters; Amy (Steven) Klehm and Kelly Murphy both of Marion, OH., two sons; Shawn (Kelly) Murphy of Fostoria, OH. and Tim Murphy of Findlay, OH. One son; Michael William Murphy preceded him in death. He was also grandpa to Brittany & Abbey Larson of Marion and Heather & Michael Murphy of Findlay.
Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Friday, August 28, 2015, from 1:00 PM until service time at 3:00 PM. Pastor Therese Layman will conduct the memorial service and burial will be at a later date in the Caledonia Cemetery.
