Bettie A. Ruth, age 89, of Marion died Monday, February 21, 2011 at the Marion Manor.
On January 1, 1922, Bettie was born in Marion; she was the daughter of the late Orison and Lena (Sager) Creviston. She graduated from Marion Harding High School.
On February 2, 1941, she was united in marriage to Don D. Ruth in Marion. To this union, and thanks to the whopping cough, a son was born, Denton Ruth.
Bettie and Don loved to travel all over the country, often with her brother and sister-in-law, Don and Margaret Creviston. On vacation, Bettie was often found lying out on the beach and worshipping the sun. Over a cup of coffee, you could often hear Bettie start with, “Well let me tell you…” and then launch into a laundry list of what was wrong with taxes, the Republican Party and the fact that on the day she passed away, gas was selling for $3.11 a gallon.
Bettie’s memory will be cherished by those she leaves behind including her son Denton Ruth of Marion. Her granddaughters, Laura Carey and Aimee Warner both of Marion. She is also survived by 3 great grandchildren and one brother Don Creviston. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don, a sister Dortha (Lowell) Firstenberger and a sister-in-law Margaret Creviston.
The Ruth family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2011, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion. Graveside services will be held at the Marion Cemetery at a date yet to be determined in April.
