Penny P. Pennington-Lewis, age 48, of Edison, passed away on Tuesday morning, November 3, 2015, at her residence.
She was born in Urbana, OH, on December 15, 1966, to the late Arthur Pennington and Wilma F. (Campbell) Pennington-Ball. Penny graduated from Mount Gilead High School in the class of 1985.
Penny spent many years as a first responder. She worked as an EMT for Morrow County EMS and as a Lieutenant for the Edison Fire Department.
Having a love for life, Penny loved all animals and enjoyed all flowers. With her green thumb, she often kept her own garden. She also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping in her favorite spots in Knox County. Around the house Penny was crafty with various quilts, sewing projects, and primitives. Penny was quite the baker. She won many blue ribbons at the Morrow County Fair and the Edison Zucchini Festival for various dishes she created. A supporter of the arts, she enjoyed music, photography, and dance, especially ballet. As a car enthusiast she enjoyed car races, truck and tractor pulls. She also loved traveling and anything to do with historical festivities.
Penny was the best Nona to her loving husband, children, and grandchildren. When Penny wasn’t tending to the needs of her own family, she could often be found caring for those in the community. As a founding member of ECHO, Edison Community Help Organization, she was able to help adopt many families during the holidays or assist with utility bills to name a few parts of the mission. Penny also served as a council member for Edison and was a past President of the Rivercliff Cemetery Board.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, Rick Lewis; children: Amanda (Mathew Underwood) West, Nicole (Lawson White) Lewis, Kelsey (Eric Reynolds) Lewis; grandchildren: Alison West, Dalton Lewis, Nickolas Lewis-Reynolds, and Lora Lewis-Reynolds; brother, Arthur L. (Kim McFarland) Pennington; and numerous Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, and Nephews.
Penny was preceded in death by both of her parents.
Family will greet friends from 1 to 3 PM on Friday, November 13, 2015, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel. 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. A memorial service will follow at 3 PM with Pastor Ed Colgrove officiating.
