Jerry T. Masters, age 59 of Marion, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 29, 2015 after a brave battle with cancer.
Jerry was born on December 7, 1955 in Marion, the son of Robert D. and Ruth E. (Monnette) Masters. He graduated from Marion Catholic High School in the class of 1974.
Jerry began his work career at The Vine Street Market under the guidance of Bob Johnson who, upon his retirement, sold the market to Jerry. After closing the market, Jerry worked for Kroger in their meat department before joining the North Central Correctional Institution/Marion Correctional Institute in 1995. He worked there until his recent retirement.
Jerry was an avid golfer and fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.
On June 27, 2001 Jerry married Patty Hunt Carr who survives him. Additionally he is survived by his parents, Bob and Ruth Masters; siblings, Pat (Al) Daniels, Peg (Neil) Van Winkle, Jim (Sue) Masters and Penny (Tom) Boes; step daughters, Nicci Sprouse and Carrie (Tony) Robbins; grandchildren, Hannah Sprouse, Connor and Kale Robbins and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jerry leaves behind so many wonderful friends as well as two special four legged children, Max and Bailey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Church on Friday, December 4 at 10 am with Father Thomas Buffer Presiding. The family extends an invitation for everyone to come celebrate the life of this great guy after the church service. This will be held at The Knights of Columbus, Council #671, 1232 E. Center St, Marion, OH.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Riverside Hospital Radiology and The Columbus Oncology & Hematology Center for the exceptional care given to Jerry and support to the family. A special thank you to the staff of Ohio Health Marion General Hospice for the kind care given to Jerry and his family.
