Michael Joseph Foltz, 33, of Marion

Michael Joseph FoltzMichael Joseph Foltz, age 33 of Marion, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2016 at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

Michael was born on December 9, 1982 to Don Foltz and Lisa M. Morabito. He graduated from Marion Catholic High School in 2001 where he participated in football, baseball, and basketball. He also participated in baseball for Boys and traveling league. He attended Hocking College and served his country in the Army National Guard of Ohio, 13 Bravo Cannon Crew member from 2002 to 2008. Michael was very proud to serve a tour of duty in Kuwait in the Army 1st Infantry. Earlier, he was deployed to serve a tour in 2005 for Hurricane Katrina.

Michael is survived by his father Don (Laura) Foltz, his mother Lisa M. Morabito; a sister: Sierra Foltz; aunts: Mary Kirk, Maryann Morbitt, aunt by choice Cheryl Bowers; uncle James (Jane) Foltz; a special person in his life, Mollie Shonk and her children: Ethan and Rhea; and a brother by choice, Alan Kearns.

Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Anna Jane Foltz and Charles and Helen Morbitt; uncles: Dick Foltz and Charley Morbitt; and aunt, Judy Prater.

Michael was a 10 year proud employee of Whirlpool Corporation of Marion.

Michael loved the outdoors and always said that is where he felt closest to God. He lived for hunting and fishing. Michael’s final selfless gift was to become an organ donor to save and improve the lives of others.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 251 North Main St., Marion at 11AM with Fr. Thomas Buffer officiating; A celebration of Michael’s life will be held immediately after Mass at the Knights of Columbus, 1232 East Center St., Marion.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Division, specifically the Kildeer Plains of Marion County; 2045 Morse Road, Building G-1, Columbus, OH 43229-6693.
