Renee L. Potts, age 51 of Marion, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at the Southwest General Health Center in Middleburg Heights, Ohio.
Renee was born on July 15, 1964 in Chicago, the daughter of Fred R. and Carol (Lauer) Paulicka. Renee was a graduate of Berea High School. She received her undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University and then went to obtain her law degree the University of Toledo. Renee spent many years serving as the Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Marion County and later on opened her own law firm. She always believed in people and gave everyone the benefit of the doubt, but that didn’t mean she didn’t check out a story and do a background check. She was firm but fair.
Renee had a very loving and generous heart, especially when it came to her daughter Miranda. She was a devoted mother that encouraged her daughter to dance, just as she once had. She promoted abstract thinking by engaging in arts and crafts and she had a gentle and patient way of laying a strong foundation for creating a bright future. She also loved the challenge of cooking without recipes, creating new dishes for her family to enjoy. She was always happy when she was able to go shopping. There was nothing that would ever slow Renee down, if she didn’t know how to do something, she would teach herself. She will be forever missed, but her legacy will continue to live on in the lives that she deeply touched.
She is survived by her beloved daughter Miranda Potts; her loving step-children: Jason (Julie) Potts, Greg (Jeanette) Potts and Danielle Potts; her devoted parents: Fred R. and Carol Paulicka and her ex-husband Dennis Potts.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 8, 2016 at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center St., Marion from 4PM to 6:30PM; Celebration of Life services will immediately follow at 6:30 with Pastor Steve deWeber officiating; Burial will be held privately with the family present.
