Edith Francis Roberts, 81, of Marion, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Heartland. Edith was born March 2, 1934 in Franklin Furnace, Ohio, to the late Arthur and Catherine (Simmers) Green. Her siblings George, Betty, and Rose also preceded her in death.
Edith married George C. Roberts on December 12, 1953. He preceded her in death on August 13, 2003. They shared 49 happy years together.
Edith was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who always put the needs of others first. She loved pets, the outdoors, and gardening was her favorite hobby. She was a selfless, hard-working woman with a heart of gold.
She will be missed by her children, Michael, Ray, and Roger Roberts, Evelyn (Rick) Graber, and Lori (Bob) Ballinger, all of Marion; grandchildren Ricky (Erica) Wilkins, George Calvin (Brittani) Roberts Jr., Kistien Lynn McKenzie, Jasmine (Brittany) Graber, Jamie Irons, Brock and Mallori Ballinger; and many great grandchildren.
A special thank you to the nurses and aides at Heartland of Marion, who took the best care of Edith. Also, a big thank you to Heartland Hospice, who made her comfortable and nurtured her till the end.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 21, 2016 from 1 to 3 PM at the James C. Boler Center, 590 Forest Lawn Dr., Marion, Ohio. Funeral services will follow at 3 PM with Pastor Steve Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery.
