Preston Lee CowellPreston Lee Cowell, age 30 of Marion, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at his home in Marion.

Preston was born in Marion on August 13, 1985, the son of Robert Preston Cowell and Jennifer (Lowry) Shoemaker.

He graduated from Ridgedale High School in 2003. After graduation, he attended Hocking Technical College to pursue his dream of being a professional firefighter like his dad (Rob) and grandfather (PC). While there he received his certification in Wild lands firefighting. He later attended and graduated from Delaware JVS Fire School as a Firefighter II. He also received his 3G welding certification from Tri-Rivers Adult Education.

Preston never met a stranger, with his outgoing and friendly personality he made friends easily. He had a very creative side and would spend countless hours in the shop creating all kinds of pieces through welding. He also enjoyed showing his 1969 Camaro at area car shows and riding fast motorcycles. Above all, Preston adored spending time with his family, especially his two children, Hannah and Kaemen. A favorite pastime for Preston was fishing, and being able to share that passion at his uncle Tom’s pond with his children was a precious gift he cherished.

He is survived by his children: Hannah Cowell and Kaemen Haudenschield; his parents: Robert Preston and Tammi Cowell and Jennifer and Dave Shoemaker; siblings: Chris Lowry, Ashlee Stover and Colten Cowell; grandparents: Judy (the late Preston R.) Cowell, Judy (the late Tom) Griffith, Evelyn (the late Gary) Lowry, Sharon Tackett and Philip and Sharon Tackett; great grandmother: Garnett Miller; uncle of Garret, Braydon and Korben Lowry; nephew of: Tom and Jill Cowell, Rick and Cathy Cowell, Julie Cowell, Terry Tackett, Tonya Boyd, the late Gary Lee Lowry, Nick Lowry, Jenny and Tim Swisher and James and Sandra Hoffman; cousin of Jay and Cody Cowell, Jerlyn Metz, Taylor and Kyle Cowell and several other cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Marion First Church of the Nazarene, 233 West Church St., Marion from 3 to 6:30PM; Funeral services celebrating Preston’s life will immediately follow at 6:30PM with Pastors Don Diehl and Steve deWeber officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the River Valley Athletic Boosters supporting the soccer and wrestling program or the Marion Community Foundation for youth programs.
